The mornings and nights are getting cooler, it's time to think about preparing our homes for the colder months. Here are some tips on easy ways to make your home winter ready.
Keep cosy on the couch.
Having blankets and throws on hand over the winter months is not only essential for keeping warm but also for adding the element of cosiness to your living area. (Jamie Kay Check Blanket - Black/Milk
incorporating 50% merino wool and 50% cotton)

Add a floor rug and feel the warmth and texture underfoot.
A sheepskin rug like this one from Gorgeous Creatures addstexture and a touch of luxury. Use in your lounge as a floor covering or throwit over the end of your bed.
Imagine feeling the divine softness beneath your feet.

Toasty towels!
Hopefully a heated towel rail is something that you included in your bathroom design specification, if not seriously think about getting one installed.
The feeling of a warm, dry towel when you step out of the shower is one of life's little luxuries

Texture, texture, texture!
Cushions in tactile wools, soft furs and chunky knits make perfect winter additions to your couch. Mix and match in similar tones but different patterns and textures.

Cozy up in bed...
Flannelette sheets, woolen underlays, electric blankets...these are all practical ways of making your bed winter ready. A more fanciful, decadent way is adding velvet to your bed dressing. Velvet is a hot trend in interiors for the season and you can easily add it through pillowcases, cushions or duvet covers.

Make your bed winter ready...
Flannelette sheets (like these ones above from Bed, Bath & Beyond) might bring to mind not-so-cool pajamas from your childhood but the range of printed flannelette sheets available these days make it easy to add a bit of cosy flair to your bed.

Low lights...
Some older homes (including mine) might make this idea a bit difficult due to the lack of available power points but if you can the addition of table lamps or floor lamps are a great way to add another layer of atmosphere to your home.
Imagine the main lights off and a few lamps glowing around the room, maybe a set of seed lights for extra twinkle. What better way to spend the evening watching a movie on a dark stormy night.....
